Here's your chance to pit yourself against 600 Firefighters in a climb up 28 floors wearing 25kgs of Turnout Gear and Breathing Apparatus. This year, the Firefighter's Charity Fund with your help will be climbing to raise $700,000 to aid in the fight against depression, PTSI and suicide. On Saturday 2nd September 2023, myself and 600 Firefighters and other Emergency Service Personnel are stepping up to fight depression, PTSI and suicide by climbing the 28 floors of Crown Metropol Hotel wearing 25kgs of turnout gear and breathing apparatus. In the “Donned & Started” category competitors race with their breathing apparatus (SCBA)“on air”
The Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb is an annual charity event that sees Firefighters (career and volunteer) and other Emergency Service Personnel come from all over Australasia and the world to compete and fundraise.
The event simulates the actions of a firefighter entering a burning high rise building, wearing full structural firefighting protective clothing, and wearing Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). Dräger SCBA.
Other Emergency Service Agencies represented include the Police, State Emergency Service, Forest Fire Management and Ambulance, all of which climb in the personal protective clothing and equipment relevant to their agency.
