Climbing for NSW RFS Ourimbah
On September 2nd I will be flying from Central Coast, NSW to Melbourne to climb 28 floors of the Melbourne Crown Metropol Hotel bearing 25kg of full structural firefighting protective clothing, whilst donning and breathing a Dräger Self Contained Breathing Apparatus set. I will be competing in the “Donned & Started†category, meaning I will race the entire event “on airâ€.
I hope to raise $2500 to help improve support services, fund research, remove stigmas and raise awareness of Mental health issues like depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and suicide, especially for those within the Emergency Service. Most of us have at one point been affected, or have loved someone who has been affected by these horrible darknesses. I am doing this because this is something close to my heart. It’s time to remove stigmas, encourage others to listen and to help out that those who need it. Seeing death is not healthy, if you are suffering, don’t be afraid to stand up and speak out. It’s time to “Step up to fight depression, PTSD and suicide.â€
