0650 – Squads 1-5 marshalled in turnout gear in foyer of Crown Conference Centre Auditorium
0655 – Squads 1-5 at Loading Dock and then to Metropol Multimedia Screen
0700 – Official Welcome, Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service and Race Briefing
0800 – Race Starts
1100 – Munich Brauhaus opens, South Wharf
1230 – Conclusion of the Stair Climb
1330 – MFSC Awards Presentation commences at Munich Brauhaus, South Wharf
Pre-event Climber Pack Collection
The collection of your race bib and timing chip, event T-shirt (if not already collected) and promotional goodies from our sponsors, etc.
We have provided this option to alleviate some of the Race day stress for all concerned – if it is convenient to you this is our preference.
If there are a number of you competing from your Brigade/Station you are welcome to send one delegate to collect the entire team’s gear.

WHERE : Cavello Centre, Ground Floor, Corner Clarendon and Haig Streets, Southbank. Look for the MFSC Flags.
Check-in and Gear Collection on Race day
You must have checked-in 1 hour prior to your Squad Start Time. Gear Collection also available.
WHEN : Will depend on your squad start time
WHERE : Crown Conference Centre, enter at corner of Whiteman St and Kings Way.
Squad Allocation
Your squad number, check in time, and start time have been allocated and emailed to all climbers. You can view these on your climber page too after logging in.
Keeping to your allocated times will help the event run smoothly and ensure everyone has a great time on the day!
Important Information
- Please familiarise yourself with the race rules
- Meet in the foyer/out front of the Crown Metropol Conference Centre and you’ll be escorted to the loading dock and briefed for your climb
- Donned and Started/Donned Only Climbers:
- Dräger and 000Foundation provide ALL the BA sets for the event – there is no requirement to BYO.
- You will be escorted from the Conference Centre to the loading dock to collect your BA set at the marshalling time as listed toward beginning of this email.
- FFMV Climbers:
- Arduous firefighting kit is required including chainsaw.
- It is a safety and EHS requirement that oil, fuel and chains (bar can remain) are removed before attending the event.
- Equipment to be clean and suitable for the climb and used indoors.
- SES Climbers:
- The 20kg remote area search kit or similar is suitable for the climb if you can arrange this with your unit
- Climbers will start at 10-15 second intervals from the start line
Clean Gear and Fitness to Climb
All climbing gear MUST be clean and not dirty (this includes the smell of smoke etc). Dirty gear must be washed and cleaned before the event.
Race Officials & the Start Line Official can remove climbers who have dirty gear from climbing.

Venue Capacity
The Crown Conference Centre is a large venue, however with 1000 emergency services personnel, climb volunteers and turnout bags, we will have very limited space. Crown enforce capacity limits within the venue.
If you are in Squads 10 and up, please arrive at the venue from just after 08:00AM (if you had already registered Friday night) so we can ensure the venue is not over capacity. We encourage you to watch the opening ceremony and fallen firefighter memorial online.
If you are in Squads 20 and up, please arrive from 09:00AM, and squads 30 and up from 10:00AM.
We understand many of our climbers make a weekend out of the event, but please be aware of the there is no space available for family and friends inside the conference centre.
The finish line is a restricted area, due to limited space and the inherent risks placed by a large number of climbers and heavy equipment. Family and friends are not permitted to view the finish line in person, but are very welcome to watch live on YouTube or our Facebook page – or see you step off from the start line in person, in front of Crown Metropol Hotel.
Turnout gear can take up a lot of space – see if you can lessen the load of gear bags and consider sharing bags within your team where possible – or using “pizza bags” as supplied with your PPC. This will free up space on the day and reduce the risk of tripping over.
Following a successful implementation in 2025, we have made changes to the race program, moving the compulsory safety briefing whilst climbers are in the queue to the loading dock. This means you can arrive after 7:00 AM and closer to the squad sign in deadlines above.
Spectator Areas
We have a dedicated spectator area outside Crown Metropol Hotel, however space is limited with over 1000 climbers participating. It is encouraged to watch from home on our live stream.
Car Parking
There is ample parking at the Crown Multi-Storey Car Park entered of Haig St or Clarke St. Please note that there is a height restriction.

Awards Presentation Ceremony
Awarding of medals/trophies for overall, age group and team categories, and for fundraising achievements.
WHEN : Venue opens for MFSC climbers and supporters from 11am and Awards Presentation will commence at 1pm
