EVENT DAY SCHEDULE – Saturday 7th September

0630 – Check in and Climber Pack Collection Opens at Crown Conference Centre for Squads 1-7 ONLY
0655 – Squads 1, 2 and 3 marshalled in turnout gear at front of stage at Crown Conference Centre Auditorium
0700 – Official Welcome, Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service and Race Briefing
0745 – Squads 1,2 and 3 depart Crown Conference Centre for BA Collection in Loading Dock at Crown Metropol
0800 – Race Starts
1100 – Firefighter “Rehabilitation” commences at Munich Brauhaus, South Wharf
1200 – MFSC concludes
1300 – MFSC Awards Presentation commences – Athletic Performance and Fundraising Achievement are acknowledged – at Munich Brauhaus, South Wharf

Pre-event Climber Pack Collection

The collection of your Competitor Bag containing your race bib and timing chip, event T-shirt and promotional goodies from our sponsors, etc.

We have provided this option to alleviate some of the Race day stress for all concerned – if it is convenient to you this is our preference.

If there are a number of you competing from your Brigade/Station you are welcome to send one delegate to collect the entire team’s gear.

Pre-Race Briefing and Welcome Ceremony

Race Start

WHEN : 8:00am Saturday 7th September

  • Please familiarise yourself with the race rules
  • You will have been allocated via email a “Squad Number” and “Squad Start Time” – this is your heat
  • You must have checked-in 1 hour prior to your Squad Start Time
  • Check-in, gear collection and spectator areas will be located at the Crown Conference Centre, enter at corner of Whiteman St and Kings Way
  • For the “Donned and Started” Category (BA on air) you will be required to present either your Firefighter Employment Identification or a verification of your PUAFIR207B Qualification to Operate Breathing Apparatus at check-in. The Certificate or a Brigade/Individual Competency Report will suffice. (not applicable to CFA – we have already confirmed your qualifications)
  • You will be escorted from the Conference Centre to the Event Hub in squads of 20 as your start time approaches
  • BA collection will be located in the Event Hub at the Crown Metropol Loading Dock on Haig St
  • As Event Partner, Dräger will provide ALL the BA sets for the event
  • If unfamiliar with the use of Dräger BA, instruction will be available on collection
  • You must collect your BA 30 minutes before your Squad Start Time
  • You must report to the marshalling area at the start line 20 minutes prior to your allocated Squad Start Time
  • Climbers will start at 20 second intervals

Squad Allocation

Your squad number, check in time, and start time will be allocated to you via email in the week prior to the event.

If you have any specific requirements for a Squad Start Time due to a flight arrival on Saturday morning, wedding that afternoon etc please let us know and we will endeavour to accommodate them. Please contact us immediately at info@firefighterclimb.org.au.

Keeping to your allocated times will help the event run smoothly and ensure everyone has a great time on the day!

Spectator Areas

Due to very limited space at the finish line on Level 28 at the Metropol Hotel, spectators are encouraged to make themselves comfortable at the Crown Conference Centre at the corner of Whiteman St and Kings Way. Here, there will food and drink available, as well as live video feeds from the finish line.

There is ample parking at the Crown Multi-Storey Car Park entered of Haig St or Clarke St

Awards Presentation Ceremony

Awarding of medals/trophies for overall, age group and team categories, and for fundraising achievements.

WHEN : Venue opens for MFSC climbers and supporters from 11am and Awards Presentation will commence at 1pm
