Climbing for CFA Sunbury

This year, I’ve been caught out. With COVID looking like the winner this year, finding out the Virtual Stair Climb was happening has made this old dog get a bit serious. I bought a stair climber for our home and on the first day of the Climb – it broke down. So my goal of doing 476 steps for each day hasn’t started well. But I just need to get my average up. Based on 30 days at 476 per day means I need 141280 steps to hit my target. The red line you see n my graph represent 3046 steps – the number of annual suicides.

While this character on the wall at the Sunbury Station may not look like me, he’s been part of the the local landscape for a few decades now. A bit like me, as I’ve been part of the Sunbury Fire Brigade for over 25 years and instead of putting my feet up, I seem to have a morbid delight in finding challenges that people my age just do not do (I’ll be 52 years old when I do the climb).
Maybe my mortality is becoming more of a concern, resulting in my fitness and health gaining more importance. So maybe running up 476 stairs in full turnout gear with breathing apparatus makes perfect sense.
I’ll let you decide.

So far, I've raised $157 of my $1,000 fundraising goal.

I've completed 3,202 steps towards our overall goal of 1,000,000 steps.
