Here's your chance to pit yourself against 600 Firefighters in a climb up 28 floors wearing 25kgs of Turnout Gear and Breathing Apparatus. This year, the Firefighter's Charity Fund with your help will be climbing to raise $700,000 to aid in the fight against depression, PTSI and suicide. Compete, donate, or sponsor a Firefighter to help the Emergency Services Foundation support mental health initiatives.
Its back again and time to tackle it for a 4th year running!
On Saturday 12th September 2020, Myself and 600 other Firefighters and other Emergency Service Personnel would have “stepped up to fight depression, PTSI and suicide” by climbing the 28 floors of Crown Metropol Hotel wearing 25kgs of turnout gear and breathing apparatus, BUT unfortunately the current COVID restrictions in Victoria prohibit this year’s event taking place as it normally would.
The event this year Commences on RUOK? Day, and concludes on World Mental Health Day. With the collective of everybody involved to climb 1 million steps for mental health.
The aim is to raise $500,000 for Lifeline, The Black Dog Institute and the 000 Foundation to help improve support services, fund research, remove stigmas and raise awareness of Mental health issues like depression, PTSI and suicide.
The underlying crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic is undeniably mental health and climbing stairs is symbolic of the struggle many people face.
So please help me “Step up to fight depression, PTSI and suicide” especially in these tough times for everyone by sponsoring me below with all proceeds raised going 100% to the fight against Mental Health and all donations are tax deductible.
Thank you for your support and donations :)
So far, I've raised $50 of my $1,000 fundraising goal.
I've completed 7,478 steps towards our overall goal of 1,000,000 steps.
